WEEX API Testing: Official Guide for AI Trading Hackathon and Crypto Trading APIs
As AI-driven trading and automation continue to reshape the global crypto market, WEEX is launching a dedicated technical challenge designed for developers, quantitative traders, and builders—— AI Wars: WEEX Alpha Awakens.
As a global AI trading hackathon, AI Wars: WEEX Alpha Awakens requires participants to demonstrate real execution capability. API Testing is therefore designed as the mandatory entry stage, ensuring all competitors can reliably interact with WEEX trading APIs before advancing further.
This initiative serves as a key entry point into the AI Wars: WEEX Alpha Awakens Global Hackathon, offering participants a hands-on opportunity to interact with real trading APIs, validate their technical execution, and prepare for more advanced algorithmic challenges ahead.

What Is WEEX API Testing?
API Testing is a practical challenge that evaluates how effectively participants can interact with WEEX's trading infrastructure via APIs. Instead of focusing on theory or simulation, this activity places you directly in a real trading environment, where accuracy, stability, and execution logic matter.
Participants are required to submit a valid API order on the BTCUSDT trading pair with a notional value of 10 USDT, verifying their ability to:
- Authenticate and configure API access
- Structure and send correct trading parameters
- Execute orders reliably in a live environment
This process reflects the same foundations used in real competition
How to participate WEEX API Testing?
Step 1|Register, Create & Submit Your BUIDL, and Obtain Your API Key
Goal: Complete your official registration, create or join a team (BUIDL), and pass the review to receive your dedicated API key.
Outcome: You will obtain exclusive API credentials to connect your system to WEEX — marking your first step into the competition.
After your BUIDL passes the review, WEEX will create a dedicated competition account for you and provide the API credentials and testing information required for the next stage. These details will be sent to you via the DoraHacks message system and WEEX Labs official emails.
You will receive:
- API Key: The identifier for your competition account and a required parameter for all API requests.
- Secret Key: System-generated key used for request signing and security verification.
- Passphrase: Required to perform API operations.
- API Testing Page Link: A mini testing environment where you can view the API testing requirements, specifications, and completion criteria.
With this, your registration is complete and you’re ready for API testing.
Step 2|Pass the Gateway: Complete Your API Testing
Goal: Ensure that your system can successfully interact with the WEEX API and execute the required test trades.
Outcome: You’ll secure official entry qualification, receive initial test funds for debugging, and gain a clear understanding of all pre-competition requirements.
Specific Instructions
- Please complete all required operations listed on the API Testing page.
- Participants who complete and pass the API testing will officially obtain eligibility for the competition.
- Participants who fail to complete or pass API testing will be unable to proceed to the model integration and formal competition stages.
After receiving the above information, please keep your API credentials secure and follow the instructions to access the API Testing page and complete the required tests.
Connect and Test
Participants need to complete a simple API test to qualify for the preliminary round of the hackathon. Please read the WEEX official API documentation carefully, and use the API key we provide to complete the test.
Why API Testing Matters?
In AI trading hackathons, having a strong strategy is only the beginning. What ultimately determines performance is whether that strategy can be executed reliably in a real trading environment. This is why API capability is a core requirement in competitions centered on AI, quantitative models, and automated trading.
WEEX API Testing is designed to ensure that every participant can turn trading logic into real execution. All API interactions take place on WEEX's live trading system, allowing participants to work under authentic market conditions rather than simulations. With a low entry requirement, the task is accessible to both experienced developers and motivated beginners, while still validating essential technical skills.
During the API Testing phase, participants complete a real BTCUSDT API trade within the testing window from December 1–31 (UTC). The flexible schedule allows participants to finish the task at their own pace, while official WEEX API support channels are available to help troubleshoot issues and exchange insights with other builders.
By completing API Testing, participants gain hands-on experience with crypto trading APIs, a deeper understanding of automated order execution, and technical validation for advancing to the AI Wars hackathon stages. More importantly, it lays a solid foundation for building production-level AI-driven or quantitative trading systems on WEEX.
Conclusion
The WEEX AI Wars: Alpha Awakens Hackathon brings together developers, traders, and innovators from around the world to explore the future of AI-powered trading.
API Testing serves as a foundational gateway—ensuring every participant begins with real technical capability, not just ideas. Whether you’re aiming to compete, collaborate, or learn, this challenge sets the standard.
