Javier Milei Attacks Lula da Silva Again, Calling Him a "Thief, Corrupt, and Prisoner"

President Javier Milei intensified his confrontation with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva this Sunday by reaffirming his derogatory remarks against the Brazilian leader and defending the content of his statements. He also took the opportunity during a television interview to criticize Axel Kicillof and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, while asserting the direction of his government and promising to advance with new reforms.

The Argentine leader insisted on his criticisms of the Brazilian president, claiming that his statements are based on facts he considers proven. In that sense, he again labeled Lula as a "thief," "corrupt," and "prisoner," asserting that his comments were not an insult but a description of his interpretation of the judicial background of the leader of the Workers' Party.

The statements were made during an interview with LN+, where Milei stated: "He is a thief, he is corrupt. He was convicted. He was imprisoned, so it is true that he is a prisoner. He was released due to an administrative error, not because he is innocent." The President further explained that these were the same terms he used during his recent visit to Brazil, when he participated in the launch of the presidential campaign of far-right leader Flavio Bolsonaro.

The President's remarks come amid the deterioration of diplomatic relations between Argentina and Brazil.

According to the head of state, his criticisms arose spontaneously and are part of his defense of "the ideas of freedom." In this context, he argued that various leftist figures in Latin America have repeatedly disqualified him without eliciting the same level of scrutiny.

In this context, the head of state mentioned several leaders with whom he has ideological differences. Among them, he named the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro; the former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales; the former president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa; and the head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, whom he pointed out as part of the leaders who, he claimed, have repeatedly insulted him.

The new statements come after several exchanges between Buenos Aires and Brasília, which have deepened the political relationship deterioration between both governments in recent weeks.

In another part of the interview, Milei also directed strong criticisms at Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof, whom he blamed for the economic situation in the province of Buenos Aires.

During the interview, Milei also questioned Axel Kicillof and referred again to Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

The President stated that the district is experiencing a stagnation due to ideological reasons and attributed this situation to the management of the provincial leader, whom he defined as "communist." He even claimed that this political model "destroys everything it manages."

Regarding former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, Milei sought to downplay any political speculation related to her. In this sense, he asserted that the judicial presentations she promotes "don't matter to him at all" and maintained that his priority continues to be fulfilling the objectives he set upon assuming the presidency.

Towards the end of the interview, the president defended the economic and political direction of his administration by asserting that he has already fulfilled the main campaign promises.

Additionally, he stated that he will continue to push for new reforms and reiterated the distinction of his project from previous administrations, which he blamed for what he defined as a "model of decay." With this message, Milei reaffirmed that he will maintain the same course despite the political confrontation both domestically and internationally.
