The Boogu team, led by Huawei's Hong Kong Artificial Intelligence Lab, has open-sourced Boogu-Image-0.1, a set of image generation and editing models containing 10 billion parameters, supporting text generation in both Chinese and English. The base model was trained from scratch using 208.62 million deduplicated images, with a theoretical training cost of about $400,000. This model has reached the first tier of open-source standards in multiple evaluations, with some results approaching those of leading closed-source models. The Base and Edit models support resolutions up to 2K, while the Turbo model can quickly generate 1K images in 3 to 4 steps. The system first understands and rewrites the user's prompts, then selects the model based on task difficulty to reduce unnecessary inference costs. Model weights, inference code, and some training methods are made available under the Apache 2.0 license.
