The U.S. government has rescinded its directive prohibiting the use of TikTok on federal devices, citing that TikTok's restructuring of its U.S. operations no longer poses a national security threat. The White House Office of Management and Budget revoked the directive issued in 2023 in a memorandum dated the 10th. The U.S. Department of Justice has provided a written opinion stating that TikTok no longer falls under the regulated applications defined by relevant laws. Since the end of 2022, the U.S. federal government and several states have banned the use of TikTok on government electronic devices citing data security concerns.
