Statues of Musk Emerge Around SpaceX Starbase

Recently, several commemorative statues related to Elon Musk have appeared around Starbase in Texas, USA. This is the large rocket launch and development base of SpaceX near Brownsville, which will be established as the city of Starbase by 2025. It is now becoming a new venue for supporters and opponents to express their positions.

50-Foot Statue to Be Erected

The French art group Atelier Missor recently announced that a statue named "Prometheus" will be erected at Starbase within a few days. The group stated that the statue will be approximately 50 feet tall, depicting Prometheus from Greek mythology holding a torch.

Atelier Missor publicly expressed last year on the X platform their desire to gift a giant titanium Prometheus statue to Starbase, claiming that SpaceX has allowed humanity to regain its dream of space. Reports indicate that it is unclear whether Musk has directly responded to this proposal, although he has interacted with some of the group's posts on X in the past.

Board Game Company Launches Reverse Crowdfunding

Another commemorative item related to Musk comes from the board game company Cards Against Humanity, but with a completely opposite stance. The company publicly launched a fundraising campaign this week to build a protest-themed monument to Musk.

A spokesperson for the company told Business Insider that SpaceX's activities at Starbase have disrupted a piece of land they purchased in 2017. The company bought the land to obstruct the Trump administration's border wall plan during his first term. The spokesperson stated that the company has been trying to restore the local environment, but the construction of housing for SpaceX employees has complicated the restoration efforts.

This land dispute entered court proceedings in 2024. Cards Against Humanity sued SpaceX at that time, and the two parties reached a confidential settlement the following year. The company later stated that SpaceX had removed the relevant equipment from the disputed land.

Crypto Project Previously Established a Statue

The report also mentioned that a statue of Musk had appeared near Starbase two years ago, commissioned by a crypto project team that launched the memecoin "ElonRWA." Its co-founder stated at the time that the statue was inspired by a popular meme image of Musk circulating online, aiming to bring internet memes into the real world.

This statue was damaged in April 2025, with noticeable scratches on its right cheek and chin. ABC News reported that the incident occurred during protests against Trump and Musk in various parts of the United States. Subsequently, a pink sticker resembling a band-aid was placed on the statue's face.

From supportive mythological statues to satirical crowdfunding monuments, and to meme statues promoted by the crypto community, the area around Starbase is gradually becoming a focal point for public expressions surrounding Musk's personal image.
