Real-world assets on Avalanche rise to $1.93 billion

The tokenization of real-world assets on the Avalanche network has rapidly increased over the past year, with the total value rising from $242 million to $1.93 billion. This nearly eightfold increase has positioned Avalanche among the fastest-growing blockchain networks. More than half of the total value consists of assets issued by Securitize. The growth appears to be influenced by institutional interest in U.S. Treasury securities, money market funds, and off-balance-sheet assets. Securitize is facilitating compliance processes by opening tokenized assets for settlement on Avalanche through authorized transfer agents. This indicates that institutional investors are leaning towards regulatory-compliant, traceable, and swift financial products on the blockchain. However, there are some concerns regarding issuer diversity and counterparty risk. Issuers prefer this network due to Avalanche's subnet structure and confirmation times of less than a second. Tokenization offers investors access at any hour of the day, rapid settlement, and transparent reporting. In the upcoming period, increased interoperability among subnets and the participation of more fund managers are expected. However, the market's formation around a single large issuer could raise issues regarding diversity and risk distribution.
