OpenAI Releases ChatGPT User Profile Data, with Task Execution in Work Scenarios Accounting for 50%

On August 6, OpenAI released data on ChatGPT usage profiles across various countries, revealing significant differences in usage scenarios, age, and regions. In work scenarios, users employ ChatGPT for task execution (such as writing, editing, and analyzing) at a rate exceeding 50%, which is more than double that of non-work scenarios, where information retrieval is the primary focus. The proportion of users aged 35 and above globally has increased by 5 percentage points year-on-year, with France and the Czech Republic seeing increases of over 10 percentage points. Nearly three-quarters of European countries have surpassed the global average increase, while some regions in Southeast Asia have shown smaller growth. Regionally, Latin America, Africa, and Oceania are narrowing the gap with early adopters, with Peru, Uruguay, and Costa Rica showing the fastest rankings rise. Multimodal use cases (such as image generation and analysis) are the fastest-growing, with a global share rising to 7.8%, exceeding 10% in countries like Brazil and Colombia. OpenAI stated that the relevant data has been made public through the OpenAI Signals platform, aimed at helping policymakers and researchers understand the usage trends of over 1 billion users.
