Facundo Díaz Acosta Advances to the Final of the San Marino Challenger and Will Return to the Top 100
Facundo Díaz Acosta has qualified for the final of the San Marino Challenger after defeating Lithuanian Vilius Gaubas 6-2, 6-3. Thanks to the points earned, he will return to the Top 100 of the world ranking, currently occupying the 95th position. If he wins the title, he could rise to the 85th position. Díaz Acosta dominated the semifinal with two quick breaks and maintained the intensity in the second set, closing the match without losing his serve. During the match, he achieved two aces and had a 70% effectiveness rate on his first serve, winning 76% of the points contested with that shot. In the final, he will face Croatian Mili Poljicak, who advanced after defeating Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas. This will be Díaz Acosta's sixth Challenger final of the season, having already won in Tigre, San Leopoldo, Francavilla, and Milan. If he is crowned in San Marino, he will reach five Challenger titles in a single season, bringing his total to ten trophies. His return to the Top 100 marks an important step in his recovery, after having reached the 47th position in 2024.
