Chainalysis reports World Cup-related on-chain volume at 20 billion USD
On-chain transaction volume linked to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America reached approximately 20 billion USD across prediction markets and NFTs, according to Chainalysis. The report indicated that World Cup-related prediction market volume exceeded 20 billion USD, while NFT trading surpassed 24 million USD. Around 400,000 wallets engaged with blockchain-based prediction markets, with 5.7 billion USD in volume recorded during the tournament. Chainalysis identified HTX, a Chinese-rooted exchange, as the largest source of illicit funds entering World Cup-related prediction markets by transaction volume, noting that HTX had previously faced sanctions from UK and EU authorities for allegedly facilitating Russia-related funds.
