Key talents from the blockchain industry are transitioning to the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Kyle Samani, co-founder of Multicoin Capital, has stepped down from his position as full-time managing partner to focus on AI, while Sam Blackshear, CTO of Mistin Labs, has joined the AI company Anthropic. Blackshear will continue to serve as an advisor for Mistin Labs and the Sui ecosystem while conducting defensive security research. Anthropic is fostering AI-based cybersecurity research and is developing technology to automatically detect and fix software vulnerabilities. This movement of blockchain professionals into AI is not new and is related to the rapid growth of the AI industry. Since 2023, significant funding has flowed into the AI sector, and major AI companies are competing to secure research and development talent. Blockchain and AI share core technological foundations such as cryptography, distributed systems, and programming languages, suggesting that the trend of AI companies recruiting blockchain talent will continue. However, there are also perspectives that caution against interpreting this recent talent movement as a decline of the blockchain industry.
