Bank of America released a report stating that due to technological upgrades leading to the closure of old plants, South Korea's annual wafer production capacity growth rate will be less than 10%, far below the official goal of doubling by 2030. SK Hynix's new memory capacity by 2028 may only be one-sixth of the original plan. Meanwhile, the construction and equipment installation period for the large wafer fabs being built by Samsung and SK Hynix in Gwangju and Jeollanam will likely be extended to ten years.
