Since the beginning of martial law, 100,000 people have been engaged in public works, of which 17,000 chose this type of employment in 2026. The average duration of participation is 25 days, with payments amounting to about 9,000 hryvnias. Participants in the program include registered unemployed individuals, internally displaced persons, veterans, and pensioners under the age of 70. In 2026, there were 1,100 participants aged 60 and above. The highest number of participants was recorded in Kharkiv (13,900 people), Poltava (9,600 people), and Sumy (9,200 people) regions. Tasks include assisting people with limited mobility, making protective nets, patrolling, and restoring damaged housing. For 25 days of work, the payment ranges from 1 to 1.5 minimum wages, while in frontline areas and for veterans, the rate is two minimum wages. To engage people, a decision from the regional military administration, an agreement between the employment center and the employer, and a list of volunteers are required.
